FTP Publishing Problems
By Rob Safuto on Jan 4, 2006 in Social Media |
A few weeks ago I realized that Blogger was unable to publish to my web host Namesecure via FTP. I don’t think that Blogger is broken and my web host said they can’t do anything about it. So if I want to publish new content or change templates I have to redirect people to a blogspot page. The issue is with FTP protocols. Evidently my host switched protocols. Hard to believe that they wouldn’t support the largest free blog service on the planet. I’ve been happy with Blogger because they support multiple blogs from one dashboard and the price is certainly right. I can’t ditch my webhost though since I’ve got a few sites running on them.
So what’s the point? I guess this is a warning to any Blogger users thinking of publishing via FTP to Namesecure.

This is happening across multiple hosts. In my research, this problem extends to more than a dozen webhosting companies.
I am off to see if I can find a trick to force blogger to comply with our needs. Cross your fingers.

Really, well I couldn’t take it anymore. I switched from Namesecure to Dreamhost. Namesecure couldn’t help out. I found it ridiculous that they wouldn’t support the world’s largest free blog service. Dreamhost is working out, but I think it’s a good idea to find some kind of a workaround for the folks who can’t switch hosts so easily.
