Who’s Buying?

Earlier I mentioned that only so many companies can count on acquisition as a strategy for their company. Fair enough, but who’s buying? We know that Google is cash heavy and has a voracious appetite for acquisitions. Yahoo is a buyer but they seem to be taking more measured steps.
The 900 pound gorilla that most people forget about is Fox Interactive. According to Tech Crunch they recently acquired a company before they even launched. Their more famous acquisition was a pick up of MySpace in a multi company deal that values the social networking site at over $500 million. Wowza! Fox spent over a billion dollars last year on acquisitions and they are likely to spend almost as much in 2006.
I know that lots of techies have dreams of working for a powerhouse like Google or Yahoo. But Fox? At these prices, I’d say many people would do just fine working for Mr. Murdoch.
