Use RSS

If you’re in a business that publishes any kind of repeating stream of information then you should shadow your website content with an RSS feed. Why? The cost of creating and maintaining an RSS feed is minimal and it opens up a world of possibility for reaching a larger audience. The key here is attaching RSS to a repeating stream of information.
I recently viewed a website for a new series of videos produced at a huge cost for a major auto maker. The series will feature repeating video episodes designed to promote a vehicle. The site contains no link to an RSS feed. If you want updates you have to register to get emails. Here’s a question. Do the people paying for the series want to get the most views possible for this repeating series of movies? If they do then they should insist that an RSS link is added to the main page. You should insist on an RSS feed too if your business publishes streams of public information.
