Microsoft Acquires Onfolio

In my recent analysis of Microsoft’s situation with social media, I failed to mention a key development that took place last week. Microsoft acquired Onfolio. This is definitely a strong move into RSS and improved desktop organization. I’ve been an Onfolio user for quite a while and I’m very happy with it’s data collection and management features. One thing that Onfolio needs is a better solution for publishing to the web. I like to use the internet as a data hub but also have the option to sync to my desktop.
Does this signal the beginning of more robust acquisition activity by Microsoft? I think so. It’s the best strategy to catch up in an area where Microsoft has lagged behind in truely functional applications.
