Scotch Blog

No, I didn’t mean to say “Scotch Guard.” I said, “Scotch Blog.” I was listening to my friends Shel and Neville on their For Immediate Release podcast today and Neville was talking about a new blog launched by the maker of a premium Scotch whisky.

The Glenfiddich “Brand Ambassadors Blog” is written by a pair of gentlemen who claim to know a lot about good Scotch. According to their launch announcement on the blog, the goal of the blog is “to unite Glenfiddich followers the world over. On our site, we’ll keep you up-to-date on the events which we attend and will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about Glenfiddich.”

So far so good. There is a clear explanation on the blog of who it is that is writing on the blog. And based on the resumes of the bloggers they should know a lot about the product and quality Scotch in general.

We’ll have to keep an eye on the blog to see how things progress. Right off the bat they’ve got it right in following two critical rules in marketing via a blog. First, Be Transparent with identities and intentions. Second: Be Knowledgeable on the product and the industry in general.
