International Podcasting Expo

Another social media conference has just popped up on radar. The International Podcasting Expo aims to create a virtual conference for podcasting enthusiasts.
According to the conference organizers’ press release, “This online Podcasting Expo will be a 48 hour, around-the-clock event, taking place within an online Virtual Expo Center. Therefore, anyone in the world with an Internet connection can attend. Events will include a 48 hour live Podcast Marathon in a 500 person cross-platform audio conference room, with Internet presentation and recording capabilities.”
The event will take place from April 21 -23 and cost for “admission” is $11. Sponsorship and “booths” are available.
Whether or not this event is well received will depend solely on the quality of the content that is distributed. Traditional conferences have the advantage of allowing the participants social networking opportunities. The presence of which can make up for shortcomings in a conference’s agenda and content. I guess I’ll just have to plunk down my $11 to see if this conference can deliver the goods.

I agree with you - the only way this will work is if there’s great content. I do want to clarify, though, that we will be doing 7-minute speed networking events, and when you get a booth, sponsorship or admission ticket, you enter in 10 keywords that describe you and/or your business, and we will be setting up sessions to connect people with similar keywords in the audio conference rooms. Hopefully, podcasters will meet and cross promote, businesses and podcasters will find good sponsorship matches. At least, that’s what I am hoping for. Please let me know what you think would make this Expo successful. I’m open to any ideas, as this hasn’t been done before like this. Looking forward to meeting you “in person”.
