Microsoft Podcatching Client

Web Pro News is reporting that Microsoft has demonstrated their forthcoming version of an open source podcatcher at Mix ‘06. There’s a very short video clip posted here.
I recently opined that Microsoft may have missed the boat in their lack of involvement with the recent surge of social media. We all know that Microsoft will be more involved with social media than they have been. Their recent acquisition of OnFolio provides proof of that.
I had always assumed that Microsoft’s first podcatcher client would be based on Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player will probably still have similar functionality. This development is welcome since it means more choices for businesses looking to leverage the power of social media.
