Power To The Voice

The word is out on a new podcasting service called evoca. TechCrunch has a mini review of the service, as does the Social Software Weblog.

I checked out their website and I must say that I really like the color scheme! Aesthetics aside, this offering reminds me (and many others) of Odeo. You can do a lot of the same things that you can do with Odeo (and the newly renamed HipCast) like recording via phone. There is one very interesting twist here though.

Evoca allows paying users (at $5 per month) to record Skype calls. This is something that Odeo and Hipcast do not allow you to do. And since Mac users have been hard pressed for a Skype recording solution this feature might help evoca gain some steam. Content on the evoca site is light to say the least, so Odeo definitely has a huge head start in that department.

If you’re in business and want to get involved in podcasting then this development is good news. More players means rivalry that will spur competitors to try and out do each other. The cost of entry is still low and the features of these sites make it even easier to get your voice out via the internet.
