Skype For Business

Internet telephony service Skype has just released a new beta version that adds more features that will appeal to businesses. One of the new features is called Skypecasting.
Skypecasts are moderated conference calls that can include groups of up to 100 people. The call can be moderated by the person who initiates the call so that they can control who is included in the conversation. Everyone on the Skypecasts needs to have Skype in order to participate. But that also means that there’s no charge for the service. This sounds like a great way to manage business conference calls at a very nice price.
Since these Skypecasts are a new concept and the current software is a Beta, I would recommend trying it out with just a few people for a non mission critical conversation. There’s also a Skypecast Directory to allow you to find and join Skypecasts that other folks have planned. The possibilities are endless now that people have the ability to use Skype to publicize and invite others to group conversations.
IMHO, the days of the webinar may soon be over as more and more business people start using Skype for their one to many interactions with employees, customers and potential customers. If you want more ideas about how your business can use this technology, head over to Skype.biz for some testimonials on how other businesses are using Skype to their advantage.

very cool idea rob - will have to check that out, we spend a ton on conference calling services from traditional telco, would be great to reduce that and still have the ability to do concalls…

Thanks Mike, When I get a few quiet moments I plan on jumping on one of the Skypecasts myself to see how it goes.
