Windows Live Spaces

MSN Spaces is now Windows Live Spaces. Live Spaces is the next generation of Microsoft’s web based social community effort.
According to the ‘about’ page on the Live Spaces website, “Windows Live Spaces is a free online software service where you can blog, share pictures and connect with the people you care aboutor the world at largein an online place that you can customize to reflect your unique style and personality.”
The site is feature rich and leverages content from mainstream content providers like the reality show Rock Star Supernova. Did you ever think you’d see the day when Tommy Lee would be helping to promote Microsoft? They also have a deal with the female home improvement website Be Jane which also maintains a presence on Live Spaces.
I’ve thrown out some opinions here in the past about Microsoft and their place in the world of Social Media. I still feel that they are quite a bit behind the curve given the adoption of destinations like MySpace and blogging tools like WordPress and WordPress.com.
That said, they could finish the year strong. Between IE7, Live Spaces and their much anticipated Zune media player and associated software.

This seems redundent with msn spaces.

If they kept the MSN Spaces platform it would be redundant. But they’ve migrated MSN Spaces to Live Spaces. So it would be more accurate to say that this is the next evolution of the service.
