Blogger Upgrades

Blogger, the free web based blogging service that helped to popularize blogging, has announced a beta program to introduce a host of upgrades to their service.
As a Blogger user I can tell you that it’s been a while since a major upgrade so these features are very welcome. Unfortunately they are not open to every user at the moment.
According to the beta announcement, “As we release this version, we’re limiting the number of people who can switch over. (You’ll see a link on your Blogger dashboard when you are able to move.) Eventually, of course, everyone will be able to transition their blogs to the new version. Thanks in advance for your patience as we roll it out.” If you can’t wait you can head over to this page to sign up for a new account.
The new design features “page elements”, which are basically widgets that you can place in your blog template much like WordPress widgets. Other features include private blogs, new templates and (hallelujah!) categorization of posts with labels.
Have a look at the tour to find out more about the changes. If you don’t see changes that you would like to see then provide feedback via the wishlist.
