Journalism Wiki Style

A very interesting move into the Wiki space by Wired Magazine.
Wired News reporter Ryan Singel is writing an article on Wikis and he’s using a wiki hosted over at Social Text to gather information on the subject. Those in the know are being asked to edit the story as they see fit.
According to the article wiki, “Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to do the job of a Wired News editor and whip it into shape.” The finished article will run in Wired News on September 7th.
I like the ease of use of most of the Wiki software that I’ve tried. And that’s just one reason why they are great tools for collaboration. One reservation I do have for open projects like this is the fact that an openly editable wiki is like the proverbial box of chocolate. You never know what you’re going to get!
I like the spirit of Wired’s effort though. If you’re going to write about a new technology you should certainly be using a new technology. I look forward to the finished product.
