I don't know who anonymous is (duh), but I'd like to point out that you, anonymous person, ALSO don't know all of the facts in this situation and yet you are criticising this blogger. Do you not see the hypocrisy here?
I agree with you that it may have seemed like a harsh attack and rude, but are you saying that you think bloggers should only post something they have fully researched? I think if someone wants to post their opinion, let them. I'm not saying you shouldn't challenge their opinions, but I think it's pretty hypocritical of you to criticise the way in which they are expressing their opinions when you do the exact same thing.
If you head over to Scoble's blog here: http://scobleizer.com/2006/11/30/opacity-is-evil/
check out my reply there. You'll see this isn't meant as an attack, but I'd like to get people thinking about how they're communicating in the blogsphere.

Again, you were rude by taking something someone said in a planning forum where you didn't have all the facts and not doing your homework.

I hate to tell you this but the situation wasn't presented that way.

"Robert Scoble is interested in coming to podcamp nyc but has intimated (okay, said) he'd want his expenses paid."

That statement doesn't indicate wondering. That statement indicates a requirement. Hence my diatribe.

Why would I have reason to doubt the person who made that statement? Turns out it was inaccurate. If someone misrepresents the conversation they had with another party then that's a whole separate issue.

There is also a responsibility not to be rude.

Truth is Robert Scoble came to PodCamp San Francisco, taking a day out of his weekend, without asking to be a speaker, or be on stage. He even brought his friend Chris Pirillo who was on vacation.

Robert Scoble didn't ask to be a speaker at PodCamp New York. Podcamp New York asked HIM to be a speaker and he just wondered if he'd have to pay out of his own pocket.

You were rude to both the PodCamp organzation by not getting the facts first. And you were rude to Robert.

And being rude -- unapologitically is worse than being entitled, in my book.
