Don't you love it when people post nasty things anonymously?
Scoble's reputation hasn't been smeared. If anything it seems everyone is backing him because he's some kind of social media superstar. I think if it hadn't been for this misunderstanding about Scoble, the point being raised about whether or not people should be paid to come to the Un-Conferences is a valid question. How do you keep the "grassroots" nature of an event like this intact once you start paying people to be a part of it? Obviously, as has been cleared up on various blogs, Scoble isn't a case of this happening because he wasn't demanding to have his expenses paid, but the fact that the organizers are okay with spending money on bringing in speakers starts to raise questions about whether the nature of this event is changing, what it's changing into, and is that good for the podcasting community?
I think anonymous needs to get some perspective and realise that they're being JUST as rude in their harassment of this blogger and if they aren't going to discuss the real issues that are being opened up here, then they should at least recognize how hypocritical they're being.
Rob, don't let comments like this stop you from talking about the issues that really matter to you. I hate to see the ideas you have being squashed because of communication problems.

Why don't you just sponsor Scoble's ticket since you already smeared his reputation without apologizing to the bloke.
