Present And Share

SlideShareThis is an easy one to wrap my mind around. Think YouTube for presentations.

As someone very experienced in corporate presentations I know how many people despise slideshow presentations. But it’s really not the presentations they despise. They despise the approach. Thing of excruciatingly long presentations with way too much info on the slides.

Slide presentations can be very useful if applied properly. Some people ‘get it’. David Byrne loves PowerPoint for instance.

I think slide presentations can be pretty useful for training on very basic topics. So when I put together a presentation to explain some of the features of Blubrry I went looking for a place to share it. And I found SlideShare.

SlideShare accepts presentations in PowerPoint, PDF and OpenOffice formats. I’m an OpenOffice user so this support is very welcome. My first upload worked like a charm. Conversion to flash took only a few minutes. And like YouTube you get a snippet of code to embed the converted show to another website. You also get an RSS feed so others can subscribe to your uploads.

I plan to use SlideShare for more presentations I’ll be completing in the near future. Check out what I’ve do so far on my SlideShare profile.
