I couldn’t help but invoke the great title of the Pink Floyd song in writing this little opinion piece on communities that sit behind walls.
A short while ago the formerly student only social network Facebook announced that they were opening up the Facebook architecture to allow 3rd party developers to write applications for the site. [...]

The online video war got hotter today with the launch of MySpaceTV.
This is a big shot at YouTube because users can now simply engage themselves with the video features without having to go through someone’s MySpace profile. It looks like you still need to have a standard MySpace profile to upload though.
One would think that [...]

Big files and file formats are both a pain in the butt. Especially when you’re dealing with rich media on the web. That’s why I’ve recently used the two services I’m mentioning here.
You Send It solves a very simple problem that is not so hard for the average web user to deal with. They let [...]

I’ve been working on a project recently to convert one of my sites to a very video heavy destination. In doing this I’m relying on other services to do the heavy lifting. It is amazing me how many players are out there to serve the needs of those who want to post video on the [...]

I won’t bother going into a soliloquy about the reasons why taking someone’s feed over without their knowledge is wrong.
Have a look at the following blog post from Rob Walch at Podcast411. It details the odyssey of a podcaster who decided to submit her feed to Podango.

It seems to me that more and more people using media to send a message are now looking at their options to go live over the internet. Some people have said that podcasting is not really social because it is a one way conversation.
I have disagreed with that assertion because a podcast producer has the [...]

Yesterday at the Future of Online Advertising Conference Brent Hill of FeedBurner made a seemingly innocuous comment that I really disagree with.
Brent stated that RSS wasn’t really for infrequent publishers. He indicated that RSS was more suited to frequent publishers. I disagree with his first assertion.
Offering RSS is good for any publisher for a variety [...]

The act of embedding video to a WordPress post is theoretically simple. You just copy some text and paste it into the post editor. Not so fast!
In practice those little snippets surrounded by ‘embed’ tags are a pain when combined with the WYSIWYG editor. My latest tutorial over in the Awakened Voice Learning Center shows [...]

I recently started using the Vimeo service to host flash versions of some of the videos I produce for other podcasts. Vimeo provides free hosting and sharing tools for videos.
Like other video sharing sites Vimeo provides free hosting, converts videos to flash and allows you to embed your videos on other sites. Unlike other services [...]
