Apple Got Me

I have to admit that I was pretty smitten by the new line of iPods that Steve Jobs announced a couple of weeks back. I have been saying for months now that if the iPhone came out without the phone feature it would be a no brainer. So the announcement of the iPod Touch lead my fingers to do the walking. I ordered one straight away, plus one of those new video powered iPod Nanos for my wife.
I later found out that I wasn’t the only one who got the bug. My brother, on hearing of the $200 price drop of the 8GB model, purchased and iPhone last week. I spoke to him about it an he’s very happy with it so far.
We have received the Nano and I’ve been playing with it a little bit. It’s definitely a really nice looking and feeling device. Weighs almost nothing. I loaded a video podcast on it and the playback looked nice. As of this moment my iPod Touch is sitting in a FedEx depot waiting to be picked up. FedEx stopped by yesterday to attempt delivery but no one was home.
I was pleasantly surprised to be getting the iPod about two weeks ahead of schedule. I’ll surely be posting my opinions on the device after returning from next week’s Podcast and New Media Expo.

I also took a bite of the Apple. I love my iphone, in spite of the fact that the ring is not loud enough and sometimes I hear an echo when I speak. (Apple says it’s AT&T’s fault, they of course blame the phone. But, the benefits definitely outweigh those slight annoyances. I also have an ipod mini and I am looking for an excuse to justify buying a nano, but so far it doesn’t seem to make sense. I do like them though. The size, the video, so cute.
