Thanks much for making that so clear. I was about to move my googlepages site (masked w/my domain) to get some search engine exposure. Somebody suggested Apps just so I could have the my domain name directly on the site and use my existing work. I don't need the rest of the features and was comparing to Sites. Are the other options that are WYSIWYG-elegant but not complicated?

When you're logged in you should see a "site settings" link at the top of the page. Click on that link. At the bottom of the resulting page is an area titled, "Advanced permissions." Tick the checkbox next to "Anyone in the world may view this site (make it public)"

How did you make your site public? I've done the settings at the apps domain page and the site page and still the site requires a login.

Thanks for sharing that Matt. Indeed. For some people, simple and quick is better than elegant and complicated.

I've been experimenting with the idea of moving my sister's low-budget non-profit organization over to google sites. In order to use our domain (www.breaking-ground.org) I've had to resort to using an embedded frame, but it's not too hideous. Certainly, when you use Sites you are limited in your ability to develop a unique look, but individuals will have to decide whether or not that's something they'll sacrifice for an WYSIWYG that makes it extremely easy to perform routine site updates.
