They’ve updated the look and feel of the Grazr widget to make it a little less obtrusive when you see the widget on your website. Grazr also has a couple of neat features built into the widget that allow you to customize the look of your mini-browser.

You can see a sample of what I’m talking about by looking at my podcast blog.

I’ve been jumping headlong lately into the idea to develop a new community podcast directory. Dave Winer has graciously offered up a domain and there’s a Yahoo! Group where people are discussing the OPML driven effort effort.

A number of people in the podcasting community have come forward to endorse the effort which I believe is an important one.

I believe the effort is important because the community needs a directory free from the agenda of any one organization. We used to have iPodder.org but that site has fallen by the wayside it seems, not having been updated in nearly six months. It’s also great to have a resource where the entire community can learn and share new developments in the world of podcasting.

The distributed nature of podcasting demands a directory of nodes maintained by people who are passionate about the nodes they choose to create and maintain. I think this will allow many different kinds of people to find their own path to the podcasts that they will enjoy.

For my part, I’m maintaining a node of podcasts produced in and around the New York City area. I’m also helping to maintain a branch for opml files submitted via the Yahoo! Group mailing list.

And while my busy schedule can barely fit a new project, I’m willing to devote some time to this one because I think that both individuals and businesses will benefit greatly in the long run from the work that’s being done with this new directory.
